FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS YOUR NEW PATIENT PROCEDURE?

All new patients will be required to schedule an initial evaluation, unless one has been completed elsewhere in the past 6 months. Evaluations are necessary for clinical plan development and for insurance purposes. After the evaluation, you and your clinician will discuss if your child qualifies for services and how to move forward with treatment. Your insurance coverage will be confirmed, however it is always a good idea to check your own insurance as well.

HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?

Call (917) 509-1920 to schedule. You may need a referral from your primary care physician.

HOW MUCH WILL MY COPAYMENT BE?

Copayments and coinsurance vary from plan to plan. We confirm insurance coverage and investigate what costs may be, however it is best to call your insurance company to verify your speech therapy benefits as well.

HOW LONG WILL MY CHILD NEED SPEECH THERAPY SERVICES?

The amount of time a child is in speech therapy varies due to many factors. Time in therapy cannot be predicted as some children make immediate progress and others make more slow and gradual progress. Home practice is also a huge component of progress. Progress reports are completed every 3 months and Re-evaluations are completed every 6 months.

HOW OFTEN WILL MY CHILD ATTEND SPEECH THERAPY?

Our sessions are 30 minutes long. Typically children attend one 30 minute session per week. Amount of sessions per week can be increased depending on your child's needs and the clinician's professional recommendation.

WILL I ATTEND SPEECH THERAPY WITH MY CHILD?
